01 — What you get
Hardwood is the one floor that gets better with age. Our hardwood flooring installers work with solid oak, maple and hickory, plus engineered hardwood where moisture or radiant heat rules solid wood out. Site-finished or prefinished, nail-down or glue-down — you choose the look, we make sure it stays flat, tight and quiet for decades.

02 — Why hardwood
Why Boston homeowners keep choosing real wood over every alternative.
Real wood is a selling point in Greater Boston listings, especially in older homes — and unlike other floors it can be renewed before you sell instead of replaced.
A solid hardwood floor can be sanded and refinished 5–7 times. Carpet and laminate are replaced; hardwood is renewed.
Change the stain, not the floor. Oak takes everything from natural matte to dark espresso, so the floor can change with the house.
No fibers to hold dust or pet dander. Sweep and damp-mop — that is the maintenance.
03 — Options
We bring samples to the estimate so you see them in your light.
The New England standard. Site-finished in any stain, or prefinished for a faster install.
Harder, lighter grain. Good for high-traffic rooms and modern, lower-contrast looks.
A real-wood top layer on a stable core — the choice over concrete, radiant heat or in basements.
Set piece by piece. More labor, unmistakable result.

Tight joints, clean edges, grain that reads across the room.

04 — How it goes
We measure, check the subfloor and bring samples. Itemized quote in writing.
Wood sits in your home 3–7 days so it settles to your humidity before it goes down.
Old floor out, subfloor leveled, planks nailed or glued. Stairs and trim cut on site.
Sand-and-finish if site-finished, then a walkthrough with you before we leave.
05 — Questions
Most Boston hardwood installs land between $8 and $15 per square foot installed, depending on species, plank width, site-finished vs. prefinished and how much subfloor prep the house needs. We measure in person and give an itemized written quote — the estimate is free.
Solid hardwood is right for most above-grade rooms and can be refinished many times. Engineered hardwood is the choice over concrete slabs, radiant heat or in basements where moisture moves. We will tell you which fits your house at the estimate.
It usually helps. Buyers in Greater Boston expect real wood, especially in older homes, and agents regularly list hardwood as a selling point. We cannot promise a number — resale depends on the whole house — but hardwood is the one floor you can refinish before listing instead of replacing.
Plan on 2–4 days per 500 sq ft for prefinished planks. Site-finished floors add sanding and finish cure time — usually 3–5 extra days before you move furniture back.
Usually yes. We source matching species and widths, weave new boards into old, and sand-and-finish the whole area so the seam disappears. We also repair water damage, gaps and squeaks.
Red and white oak are the regional standard — hard, stable and easy to stain. Maple and hickory are harder still for busy households. Wide-plank white oak is the most requested look right now.
Yes, with a good finish and prompt clean-up of spills. For laundry rooms, bathrooms and basements we usually recommend engineered hardwood or waterproof luxury vinyl plank instead.
